Sushi is a Japanese food consisting of cooked vinegared rice (shari) combined with other ingredients (neta). Neta and forms of sushi presentation vary, but the ingredient which all sushi have in common is shari. The most common neta is seafood. Raw meat sliced and served by itself is sashimi.
The common ingredient across all the different kinds of sushi is sushi rice. The variety in sushi arises from the different fillings and toppings, condiments, and their preparation. The same ingredients may be assembled in a traditional or a contemporary way, creating a very different final result.
Sushi is the most famous Japanese dish outside of Japan, and one of the most popular dishes among the Japanese themselves. In Japan, sushi is usually enjoyed on special occasions, such as a celebration.

The Lookout Deck
The Lookout Deck is situated in Hout Bay. To find us… from Cape Town follow Victoria Road through Bantry Bay, Camps Bay, Llandudno and into Hout Bay. Follow Victoria Road to the end and follow into North Shore Road. Turn into the main entrance of the harbour. You’ll find The Lookout Deck on the right hand side, on the waters’ edge. From Noordhoek follow Chapman’s Peak Drive over the mountain. At the bottom turn left into Princess Street and at the end of this road turn left again into North Shore Road. Alternatively proceed over Constantia Neck and follow into Hout Bay Main Road. Turn right into Princess Street and left into North Shore Road.
Things to do in Hout Bay
Hout Bay Beach
Hout Bay is a protected harbour bay great for walks and horse riding with spectacular mountain surrounds and views over the Holland Hottentots Mountains in the distance. The Chapman’s Peak side of the beach is better for sunbathing and swimming is good here as the waves are gentle.
Chapmans Peak Drive
Chapman’s Peak stands imposingly at the heart of Chapman’s Peak Drive, connecting Hout Bay with Noordhoek along one of the most dramatic marine routes in the world that hugs the coast of the Atlantic for nine kilometres.
World of Birds
The World of Birds is the largest bird park in Africa and one of the few large bird parks in the World. Over 3 000 birds (and small animals) of 400 different species are uniquely presented in more than 100 spacious landscaped walk through aviaries, allowing you the most intimate closeness with nature.
